Social safety and privacy
Updated October 16, 2026 · Invitation-only beta
Automatic safety screening when you post
Before you submit, the posting form explains that selecting Post or Post comment sends only that Social post’s selected photos and caption, or the comment you submit, to OpenAI’s moderation API. Screening is part of posting, with no separate checkbox. If you do not want this content sent for screening, do not submit it. You can still use the fitness app without posting to Social. Photos are re-encoded to remove embedded location and camera metadata first. We do not include your account email, private coaching conversations, fitness records, or other photos. Content you choose to post may itself contain personal information; share only what you intend.
Existing submissions are not enrolled automatically. Older app pages that did not show this notice may still send posts to human review; refresh Social before posting. OpenAI’s published API data-controls table lists moderation inputs as not used for training and with no routine retention; legal and safety exceptions can apply. Read OpenAI’s data controls.
What happens next
Low-risk results can publish automatically to your chosen audience. Uncertain or flagged content stays hidden for a moderator. Temporary failures are retried; after repeated failures a person must review it. Checks can make mistakes and do not guarantee that content is safe.
Who can see your posts
Private · Only me means no other members can view the post. Safety screening and authorized moderation still apply. Friends means your accepted Northeum friends. Public means anyone, including visitors without an account; public content can be copied or redistributed. Public sharing is disabled during the restricted beta. Existing Northeum members posts remain members-only and are never converted to Public automatically. Choosing an audience and pressing Post confirms your choice; there is no separate sharing checkbox.
Reports and appeals
Use Report on a post or comment, or block a member from their profile. For an appeal or urgent safety concern, contact admin@getnortheum.com and include the post or comment identifier. Do not email suspected illegal imagery. A moderator reviews reports and can remove content. Automated screening never reverses a moderator’s decision.

Community rules
No harassment, threats, hate, sexual exploitation, graphic violence, scams, or unlawful content. Respect other people’s privacy and rights. Normal fitness clothing and progress photos are not automatically violations, but context may require review. This screening system is not a dedicated child-exploitation detection service. Video sharing remains disabled.
We retain a restricted screening record containing the decision, model, policy version and scores for accountability—not an extra copy of your photo in the audit record.
